Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz visited Lebanon’s border on Sunday with U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus.
They were accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter, Israeli Northern Command chief Rafi Milo, and other Israeli army and U.S. Central Command officers.
Katz and Ortagus were briefed on “Hezbollah’s activities in Lebanon, including efforts to rebuild its infrastructure,” and the pair later toured the border and visited the border community of Misgav Am, Katz’s office said.
The tour took place as the Israeli army killed two alleged Hezbollah operatives in strikes in Lebanon earlier on Sunday. Katz’s office says Israeli commanders briefed the defense minister and Ortagus on the strikes.
Ortagus is scheduled to begin a visit to Lebanon on Monday where she will meet with President Joseph Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri and PM Nawaf Salam and will also preside over a meeting for the ceasefire monitoring committee, known as the Mechanism.
