The Israeli army is preparing for a ceasefire in Lebanon expected to begin at 7:00 P.M. local time, Israel's Haaretz newspaper quoted Israeli army officials as saying.
High-ranking Israeli army commanders "received instructions to prepare the forces currently deployed in southern Lebanon for the truce, which they were told would begin between 7:00 P.M. and midnight," Haaretz said.
U.S. President Donald Trump meanwhile told President Joseph Aoun in their first ever phone call on Wednesday that "there will be a ceasefire within hours."
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation meanwhile reported that "Trump is seeking a ceasefire in Lebanon before the round of negotiations with Iran."
