Share Responsibly: Lebanon launches national campaign to combat misinformation

The Ministry of Information and UNESCO in collaboration with Tele Liban, have announced the launch of the national media campaign "Share Responsibly: Be Part of the Truth, Not Misinformation".

Funded by UNIFIL, this nationwide initiative aims at addressing the growing challenge of misinformation and disinformation and promoting responsible information sharing across all platforms.

The campaign responds to the increasing complexity of today’s information environment, where misleading or false content can spread rapidly through everyday interactions and digital platforms. It seeks to strengthen public awareness, promote media literacy, and encourage critical thinking in how information is created, consumed, and shared.

The campaign consists of a series of 10 short episodes inspired by daily life in Lebanon, set in familiar environments such as taxis, shops, elevators, and public spaces. These scenarios reflect how information circulates in everyday conversations and how misinformation can emerge, spread, and influence perceptions and decision-making processes.

At the heart of the campaign is the character Yara Bou Monsef (Lebanese Content Creator), who navigates these everyday situations and illustrates how misinformation is formed, amplified, and its potential impact on individual and collective choices. Through her journey, the campaign highlights the importance of verifying information and adopting a responsible approach before sharing content.

This campaign is part of a broader framework led by UNESCO to promote media and information literacy and to build more resilient, informed, and engaged communities.
