Aoun calls for awaiting negotiation outcome before passing judgment

President Joseph Aoun affirmed Thursday to a delegation that included MPs Michel Mouawad and Ashraf Rifi, along with other figures, that "our responsibility is to proceed from a Lebanese perspective."

"Those who claim sovereignty must acknowledge the sovereignty of decision-making. We are not a newly established nation, but a country with a long and distinguished history and sovereignty," Aoun said.

He added: "Decision-making is at the heart of this sovereignty, and the Lebanese are capable of being sovereign and making their own decisions. We welcome any assistance that other countries can offer, provided it is within the framework of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs."

Aoun pointed out that "the cost of war was extremely high for Lebanon and its people."

"Therefore, the alternative was to pursue negotiation. We must await the results of these negotiations before passing judgment. The efforts exerted by the Lebanese delegation, both military and civilian, achieved the best possible outcome for Lebanon," the president stated.
