A preliminary agreement has been reached for a new round of negotiations to be held between Lebanon and Israel at the beginning of September, sources told Al-Arabiya television.
They noted that the United States is considering forming a committee comprised of officers from several countries to monitor the framework agreement in Lebanon.
The sources added that the Lebanese state remains committed to the option of negotiating with Israel.
They also indicated that reports of ex-Ambassador Simon Karam's resignation as head of the Lebanese negotiating delegation are untrue, following earlier reports that Karam intended to resign in protest against Israeli conduct during the negotiations.
