Is the US serious about talking to Hezbollah?
U.S. President Donald Trump “has said that he would be willing to talk to Hezbollah if it would lead to an end of conflict, or peace,” Ed Gabriel, the head of the American Task Force on Lebanon, said.
“We talked to the Americans this week, here at the embassy, and they’ve also said that President Trump was serious about talking directly to Hezbollah,” Gabriel told al-Jadeed TV during his latest visit to Lebanon.
“But there’s no reason to talk to Hezbollah just to talk to them, so you have to get to a point where it’s ripe enough to make a difference by having that conversation,” he added.
“I don’t think that the U.S. feels as though that Hezbollah is serious enough yet to have that conversation,” Gabriel went on to say.
