Aoun reiterates that 'there is no option but negotiation'
President Joseph Aoun on Wednesday said Lebanon has “made the decision to negotiate to avoid the devastation and tragedies caused by war.”
“While negotiations are not easy or quick, and there are obstacles and difficulties, they remain far better than war,” Aoun stressed.
“We share the same goals: liberating the south, deploying the army to the border, recovering captives, facilitating the return of displaced people, and rebuilding the country. This cannot be achieved through war, as has become clear. Therefore, there is no option but negotiation,” the president emphasized.
