Israeli detonation in Khiam leaves widespread destruction across nearby towns
An Israeli massive overnight detonation in the southern border town of Khiam caused widespread destruction in nearby villages, damaging homes, schools, and infrastructure.
The blast resulted in a complete blackout across the Hasbaya, Shebaa, and Arqoub regions and shattered windows in nearby buildings, including a school in Marjayoun.
Later in the day, Israeli artillery shelled, including with white phosphorus, Wadi Zebqine, Baraashit, Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh, and Mayfadoun.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam was meanwhile meeting with Arab and world leaders in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in a push to de-escalate tensions in Lebanon and rally support for the war-hit country.
