Berri says problem is Israel's failure to abide by any agreement

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri accused Israel on Thursday of never abiding by its agreements, in a meeting with U.S. Senator James Lankford in Ain el-Tineh.

Berri told Lankford as they met Thursday that "at no point has Israel abided by any of the agreements reached, from Resolution 425 to Resolution 1701, the November 2024 agreement, and up to the tripartite framework agreement."

Berri said the problem remains the same: "Israel's failure to adhere to its obligations under all of these agreements."

The Speaker also met Thursday with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, to whom he emphasized the need to find an alternative to the UNIFIL force once its mandate ends in south Lebanon.

"Reaching a stage where UNIFIL's mandate ends without finding an alternative is a grave error and a direct blow to international legitimacy and its U.N. resolutions, chief among them Resolution 1701," he said.
