Lebanese Army refutes Israel's claims on Kafra's Hezbollah site

The Lebanese Army has accused the Israeli army of voicing “false claims” regarding the Lebanese military's operations in the area south of the Litani River in an attempt to “cast doubt on its ability to carry out its assigned tasks.”

Israeli Army Arabic-language spokesperson Lt. Col. Ella Waweya had released footage on Tuesday on the X platform allegedly showing Hezbollah operatives loading weapons onto a truck in order to move them from a site in the southern town of Kafra. She accused the Lebanese Army of failing to clear south Lebanon of Hezbollah's arms and of coordinating with Hezbollah to help them move their weapons out of the Kafra site.

The Lebanese Army however clarified that military units had worked on clearing the Kafra site from December 2025 until March 16, 2026, when they halted work in the facility and evacuated the area at the request of the Mechanism committee due to Israeli threats to bomb it during the latest Israeli war on Hezbollah. The army noted that it had informed the committee that the mission had not yet been completed and that a quantity of military equipment and ammunition remained inside the facility, which was subsequently targeted by Israel.

“Despite repeated demands by the army to secure the resumption of work to complete the evacuation of the facility, these efforts were met with Israeli rejection until military units resumed their mission on August 15, 2026, (after the war), in coordination with the Mechanism. They continued working until its final completion and the closure of the facility on October 16, 2026,” the Lebanese Army said.

It added: “As for the video showing a targeted truck, it dates back to July 3, 2026, in the Siddiqine-Tyre area, approximately one week after the signing of the Framework Agreement.”

The army stressed that “all these facts and measures are documented with the committee supervising the cessation of hostilities, refuting Israeli allegations and proving the reality of the efforts made by the military institution in the South.”

It also emphasized that “the repeated disinformation campaigns and spreading of lies recently by the Israeli occupation fall within the context of attempts to undermine the army's credibility locally and internationally, coinciding with ongoing negotiations.”

Moreover, the army reiterated its “full commitment to fulfilling its duties and pledges, and executing its assigned tasks,” noting that Israeli is continuing “its aggression and violations of existing understandings.”
