Two British journalists who were detained by a Libyan militia last month will be released within 24 hours, a senior government official told Agence France Presse on Thursday.
"The two journalists will be released within 24 hours and will be free to leave the country," deputy interior minister Omar al-Khadrawi said.
The Swehli militia of Misrata, which also has operatives in Tripoli, seized Nicholas Davies and Gareth Montgomery-Johnson while they were reportedly filming late at night near a sensitive site.
The journalists, who work for Iran's English-Language Press TV, were held by the militia for weeks over charges of illegal entry and possible espionage before being handed over to the authorities.
