House Speaker Nabih Berri held talks on Wednesday with Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati on the process of forming a new government.
The meeting, held at Ain al-Tineh in the presence of the speaker’s political adviser MP Ali Hasan Khalil, also addressed local and regional developments.
Meanwhile, MPs who had visited Berri during the day reported him as criticizing Libyan President Moammar Gadhafi’s use of violence against the popular uprising in his country.
The speaker described as “mild” European and western reactions to “Gadhafi’s actions against the people and human rights” adding that it appears as if some sides are even conspiring with the Libyan ruler.
Berri had also sent a cable to Saudi King Abdullah congratulating him on his recovery from his health setback and safe return to Saudi Arabia.
