Lebanon, France Conduct Joint Military Exercise

Lebanon and France began on Saturday a major military exercise in Jounieh, the National News Agency reported.

The maneuvers included air, ground and naval field training exercise conducted by the Lebanese Armed Forces in cooperation with the French Navy helicopter cruiser the Jeanne d’Arc.

The joint exercises took place in the presence of Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Qahwaji, high-ranking security officials, French Armed Forces chief of staff Admiral Édouard Guillaud, French Ambassador to Lebanon Denis Pietton, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Commander Maj.-Gen. Paolo Serra, and a number of Arab and foreign military attaché.

This exercise is the third of its kind conducted with the LAF since 2009.

Qahwaji and Admiral Guillaud hailed the joint maneuvers and the cooperation between France and Lebanon.
