ISF Arrests 6 People for Collaborating with Israel

The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch has arrested six people on suspicion of collaborating with Israel, As Safir newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The daily said one of the suspects is a former member of the South Lebanon Army militia and hails from the southern village of Kfarkila.

His three brothers along with two other residents of the border village were also detained for questioning, As Safir said.

Three of the detainees were transferred to Beirut while the others are being questioned at the Intelligence Branch headquarters in Marjayoun, it added.

Last month, the military court condemned to death Moussa Ali Moussa for passing to the Jewish state between 2000 and 2010 information on officials from Hizbullah.

It also condemned to death in absentia Ali Sweid and Ahmed Hussein Abdullah on charges of spying for Israel.

Lebanese authorities in 2009 launched a national crackdown on alleged Israeli espionage rings.

More than 100 people have been arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Israel's Mossad spy agency.
