Remains of Syrian Soldiers who Perished in 1982 Israeli Invasion Found in Kfarhouna

The remains of five corpses, likely to belong to Syrian soldiers, were found in the Jezzine town of Kfarhouna on Wednesday, reported Voice of Lebanon radio.

It said that the soldiers were probably killed during Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon.

It added that the remains were found when a de-mining company was sweeping the area for cluster bombs.

The radio reported that a Syrian unit that had set up post in that area at the time was the victim of Israeli airstrikes.

The concerned sides were informed of the attack when it happened, it explained.

Some remnants of the Lebanese civil war and the July 2006 war have been discovered recently.

On March 26, a safe belonging to late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was found in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
