Deputy Head of Hizbullah's Executive Council Sheikh Nabil Qaouq accused on Tuesday the March 14 forces’ “catastrophic” policy has led Lebanon towards “major dangers.”
He demanded that the “heavy weapons” that were used in northern Lebanon should be employed in a defense strategy for Lebanon.
He made his remarks during a ceremony celebrating resistance and liberation.
“The arms that were used in the North were not light, but they were medium and heavy ones,” noted Qaouq.
“They were not individually owned weapons. On this note, we declare that the arms of the resistance are a national necessity to complete the liberation, protect the country, and maintain its offshore oil wealth,” said the Hizbullah official.
“The developments in northern Lebanon are painful and those keen on the safety of the nation should halt the bloodshed,” he stressed.
“Those keen on the country’s safety cannot but support Speaker Nabih Berri’s call for dialogue,” he added.
Furthermore, he said that the March 14 forces have played a role in inciting the rival factions in the North to violence.
They have deliberately dragged Lebanon to the “heart of the Syrian crisis and they have turned it into a center for armed Syrians … who are endangering Lebanon,” he remarked.
Qaouq demanded that the March 14 camp take a clear position that coincides with that of the government and March 8 forces that stress the need to prevent Lebanon from becoming a hub for armed Syrians.
