Electricite du Liban's contract employees continued their strike on Wednesday, warning of escalatory measures to force the cabinet to carry out their demands.
The contract workers set up on Tuesday two tents near the company’s entrance in preparation to hold an open-ended strike until the government meets their demands for their full-time employment.
They pointed out that this step is the beginning of a series other escalatory measures.
Last week, the workers forced the evacuation of the company’s headquarters in Beirut as they reportedly threatened to set the building on fire.
EDL contract employees have been protesting for the past three weeks against the cabinet’s failure to approve their full-time employment draft law.
The Committee of EDL Contract Workers and Collectors said in a statement that some employees have been contract workers for over 20 years.
