Report: Jordan Halts Official Visits to Lebanon

Jordan decided to temporarily “postpone” and “cancel” any official visits to Lebanon, media reports said on Thursday.

A high-ranking source told “al-Arab al-Yawm” that Jordanian Prime Minister Fayez al-Tarawneh ordered to currently halt any official visits to Beirut.

The source said on condition of anonymity that the reasons behind the decision weren’t disclosed.

It estimated that the reasons might be linked to the instability in the country.

Lebanon has recently witnessed a series of incidents in the northern city of Tripoli and along the Lebanese-Syrian border.

In May, four Gulf countries advised their citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon and urged its nationals currently present in the country to leave due to the unstable security situation.
