Beirut Examining Magistrate Ghassan Owaidat recommended on Thursday the death penalty for 88 individuals who were involved in the 2007 Nahr al-Bared clashes with the Lebanese army.
The suspects were accused in the 447-page indictment of murder and attempted killing and of targeting state security by funding and carrying out terrorist acts.
The indictment was issued five years after the end of the gunbattles between the army and Fatah al-Islam terrorists at the northern Palestinian camp of Nahr al-Bared that left some 400 people, including 168 soldiers, dead.
On Monday, Owaidat approved the release on bail of four Palestinians arrested over the clashes.
Last month, nine other Islamists were discharged from Roumieh prison.
