Mustaqbal Urges Resignation of Govt., Formation of Salvation Cabinet

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc on Tuesday stressed that the situation in Lebanon can only improve through the resignation of the government and the formation of a “salvation government.”

“The state of chaos, dismay and disorder is rampant in several sectors to an extent that threatens the country’s stability and security and the living conditions of the citizens who are the ones suffering the negative repercussions,” the bloc warned in a statement issued after its weekly meeting.

“The latest episode of deterioration was what happened yesterday at Electricite du Liban (EDL) due to the worsening crisis between contract workers and their administration, amid the absence and bad performance of the minister and the government and the militia-like approach in tackling such issues,” the bloc added.

Al-Mustaqbal stressed that “confronting the current situations caused by this bad performance requires the resignation of the current government.”

The bloc called forming a salvation government “that has a rescue plan away from the malicious and vengeful acts.”

Addressing the issue of the suspended national dialogue, the bloc lauded the “positive, long-awaited step of providing the security agencies with the complete telecom data” related to the recent assassinations attempts against Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea and MP Butros Harb, adding that it will “maintain consultations with the allies in the March 14 coalition” over the possibility of returning to the national dialogue table.

The bloc said that before returning to the dialogue table, the March 14 forces want to make sure that Hizbullah will agree to discuss the thorny issue of its arsenal of arms, “the last pending item on the agenda” of national dialogue.
