Head of the Free Syrian Army Colonel Riad al-Asaad accused on Tuesday the Syrian regime of being behind the claim that a member of al-Meqdad clan is being held captive by the FSA.
He said: “This is one of the regime’s games to create strife and instability in Lebanon.”
He made his remarks to the Kuwaiti al-Rai newspaper that will be published on Wednesday.
The head of the FSA denied that negotiations are underway with the Lebanese army to resolve this issue.
In addition, Asaad accuse Hizbullah members of fighting alongside the Syrian army against the country’s revolt, saying that the party is keen on spreading the crisis to neighboring countries, such as Turkey, Iraq, and Lebanon.
Lebanese Hassan Salim al-Meqdad was allegedly kidnapped by the Free Syrian Army last week in Damascus which prompted his family’s previously unknown military wing to abduct several Syrians and a Turkish citizen to press the release of Hassan.
Another Turkish national has also been kidnapped but it was not clear who was behind his abduction.
