Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun noted on Tuesday that the Internal Security Forces' board had not convened since 2006 to make new appointments.
He said after the Change and Reform bloc's weekly meeting: “Some ISF members have been appointed in an illegal manner and we condemn the silence over this matter.”
“Not a single member has been appointed in his rightful position,” he declared.
Addressing the Mustaqbal bloc, he remarked: “They always try to attack the army and the morale of its troops.”
“Do they want the authority of the Free Syrian Army or al-Qaida seeing as it exists in great numbers in Syria?” he wondered.
“The Mustaqbal bloc praises the army during each of its meetings because no one dares to insult the institution due to its high popularity at the moment,” he said.
On the telecom data dispute, Aoun remarked: “This is the first time that we see a government defending national liberties in the telecom data, while other powers are demanding that agencies spy on them.”
“We must conduct a survey to determine whether the people want to be spied upon,” he added.
“Such a phenomenon only exists in Lebanon,” he noted.
“Telecom data has never been used to apprehend criminals,” the MP said.
