Hizbullah denied on Thursday accusations by the Libyan Foreign Ministry that it was sending fighters to aid insurgents in the rebel-held port city of Misrata.
"Hizbullah denies this accusation and maintains that all such talk is unfounded," said a brief statement released by the party, a staunch ally of Iran.
On Wednesday, Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Kaim accused Hizbullah of sending fighters to aid insurgents in Misrata, 200 kilometers (120 miles) east of the capital Tripoli.
"The snipers in Misrata are elements of Hizbullah. This is not an anecdote, it's real," he declared, adding that western intelligence agencies were aware of Hizbullah activity in Misrata.
Misrata's insurgents have withstood a siege and bombardment by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's forces for more than a month.
