Internal Security Forces detained on Monday four suspects allegedly accused of being involved in a spree of armed bank robberies in Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
According to a statement issued by the Directorate General of Internal Security Forces "intensive investigations and analysis were undertaken to determine common points in the robbery's which led us to identifying the identities of the culprits."
The four suspects are Lebanese nationals.
The statement pointed out the stolen cash is worth $500000
Investigations are ongoing to arrest the fifth suspect.
Several banks were robbed recently including the Fenicia Bank, formerly Bank of Kuwait and the Arab World, in the Beirut district of Ashrafiyeh in July, Societe Generale de Banque au Liban (SGBL) branch in Kfarshima, the Dbayeh branch of Banque Libano-Francaise at the end of June and several others.
