The Phalange Party praised on Monday Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi’s call for holding a Christian meeting in Bkirki, hoping that the gatherers would succeed in “unifying a Christian stand on national principles.”
It hoped in a statement after its politburo’s weekly meeting that Tuesday’s meeting would pave the way for others that would include a wider participation of Christian figures and leaders.
These meetings would help establish a “joint national agenda that would preserve the Christians’ role in Lebanon.”
Addressing the government formation, the party questioned the ongoing delay in the formation, calling on those taking part in it to “review their efforts in order to return the process back on track.”
“The delay has created a vacuum whose effect on people is the same as security instability,” it noted.
