The army conducted on Tuesday a raid in the Bekaa town of Brital where it confiscated drugs and a number of stolen cars, reported Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) on Tuesday.
The cars were found at the residence of Suheil Haidar Mazloum, who was arrested along with four members of the Tleis family.
Mazloum was arrested on drug related charges and outgoing warrants against him, said VDL (93.3).
It later reported that one of the Tleis family members was released after it was revealed that he was not linked to the incident.
Speaker Nabih Berri had announced on Monday that the army will soon deploy heavily in the Bekaa in order to implement a security plan aimed at combating lawlessness in the region.
Increasing crime, thefts and abductions in the Bekaa have intensified in the past year, although the state institutions have launched a number of campaigns to combat the trend.
The army recently launched a crackdown on assailants in Beirut's southern suburbs and several other areas in an attempt to halt a kidnapping spree of several businessmen and numerous bank robberies.
