Report: National Dialogue to Be Postponed to Nov. 29 to Cover up Opposition's Errors

The national dialogue session that has been set for November 12 will likely be postponed to November 29, reported As Safir newspaper on Tuesday.

It said that the postponement may be aimed at “covering up the errors” of the March 14-led opposition.

It explained that several members of the camp received European and foreign messages urging them to return to the all-party talks.

The March 14 camp had announced a boycott of the talks, as well as all government-linked activity, in light of the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau chief Brigadier General Wissam al-Hasan.

It blamed Syria for the crime and has demanded that the government, which is formed of mainly pro-Syria forces, step down because of its failure to preserve stability and security in Lebanon.

President Michel Suleiman has meanwhile been maintaining his contacts with various members of the national dialogue in order to ensure that the session will be held.

Hasan was killed in a car bomb in Beirut's Ashrafiyeh district on October 19.
