An Algerian military cargo plane traveling with six people on board from Paris to Algiers went down in flames Friday in a mountainous region of southern France, officials said.
Around 60 firefighters were at the scene of the accident in a forest clearing near the village of Trelans, the fire service said without providing details on the number of victims, the cause of the crash, or the type of plane.
The aircraft was still on fire an hour after it crashed around 1500 GMT in poor weather conditions in a remote area at an altitude of about 1,000 meters (3,200 feet).
Six people -- two military personnel and four civilians -- had boarded the plane at Bourget airport near Paris, officials said.
The top government official in the Lozere region has traveled to the scene and a crisis cell has been set up, officials added.
