Independence Movement leader Michel Mouawad met on Wednesday with representatives of March 14 at the offices of the Phalange party in Melbourne, Australia.
Mouawad, who is on a political visit to the country, discussed with the group the situation of Lebanese expatriates and the latest political and security developments in Lebanon.
The Independence Movement threw a lunch banquet in Mouawad's honor, in which representatives of March 14 parties participated, alongside expatriates and the Charge d'Affaires of the Movement in Australia Saeb Mouawad.
Among the participants in this honorary lunch were the Consul of the state of Victoria Ghassan Khatib, Monseigneur Joe Taqchi, the President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union Michel al-Doueihy, the President of the Australian province in the Phalange party George Haddad, the President of the Phalange Melbourne office George Halal, the President of the Lebanese Forces' office Hani Tawq, and the Secretary General of al-Mustaqbal Movement in the province Maan Abdullah.
Also participating in the lunch were the Democratic Left representative Akram Hilal, Nabil Faddoul of the National Liberal Party, a delegation representing the Progressive Socialist Party, the President of the Maronite League Badawi Khoury, the Lebanese Australian Chamber of Commerce's President in Melbourne Fady al-Zouqi, and the Regional President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union Tony Yaacoub.
In a celebration held by the Independence Movement, Mouawad discussed latest developments in Lebanon, tackling the issues of “illegal weapons”, political assassinations, and the approaches to be adopted in this phase of Lebanon's history.
Adelaide's visit
Mouawad and the accompanying delegation also visited the capital of south Australia Adelaide, where he was greeted at the airport by the Lebanese Honorary Consul's son Anthony Elias al-Nemr and representatives of March 14 in the city.
Adelaide's visit was concluded with a dinner organized by the Lebanese Forces' office in the city.
