Mansour Part of Arab Delegation to Visit Gaza in Solidarity with Palestinians

Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour will be part of the Arab League delegation, which will visit the Gaza Strip on Tuesday in a show of support for the territory in the face of Israeli air strikes, As Safir daily reported Monday.

“The purpose of the visit is to deliver a message of solidarity and support to the Palestinian people. It is the least we can do to confront the Israeli aggression,” Mansour told the daily.

Noting that the statement issued by the Arab foreign ministers was not up to the ambitions, the foreign minister said: “Despite the modest statement we hope it will not stay just ink on paper while the blood of Palestinians is being shed.”

An Arab League delegation headed by the bloc's chief, Nabil al-Arabi, will visit the Gaza Strip in a show of support for the territory in the face of Israeli air strikes, a league official told Agence France Presse on Sunday.

Arab foreign ministers decided during an emergency meeting in Cairo on Saturday to send the delegation to the enclave, where scores of Palestinians have been killed over six days of Israeli bombardment.

Three Israelis have also been killed by a rocket fired by militants in Gaza.

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi sent his prime minister, Hisham Qandil, on a solidarity visit to the Palestinian territory neighboring Egypt on Friday.
