The Phalange party warned on Monday against the consequences of the government's “failures on various levels”, calling for the formation of a salvation cabinet.
"The cabinet has decided to disassociate itself from issues of sovereignty and matters that affect the daily lives of the Lebanese people,” the Phalange statement said after the weekly meeting of its political bureau.
The party called on the cabinet to shorten its “journey of failures and give up the files it was not able to deal with”.
"We stress on the need to form a salvation government that would be responsible in front of its citizens and able to be decisive in political, security, and economic matters,” the Phalange demanded.
The political bureau also warned against attempts to jeopardize Lebanon's stability in favor of “the regional equation”, expressing the need to immunize the country by strengthening the army and the security forces.
"The possession of illegal weapons in Lebanon is only confronted through the army”, the statement said.
The party discussed “enhancing the work of the March 14 coalition”, calling for improving its structure, organizing work within it and empowering the role of the General Secretariat.
"We need to fortify the bonds between all March 14 allies to pursue the Cedar Revolution dream of having an independent, free and sovereign country”, the Phalange expressed.
Concerning the Israeli war on Gaza, the party urged the international community and the United Nations Security Council to interfere and stop the ongoing violence, calling on the Palestinians to resolve their internal feuds and acknowledge Mahmoud Abbas' authority.
"The Palestinian's unity is a requirement for having a strong Arab stand to be presented to the international community”, explained the statement.
The party thanked all officials, religious figures, military and security personnel that participated in the sixth commemoration of the assassination of Minister Pierre Gemayel on Sunday for their presence, vowing “to carry on with the struggle until the high principles and values they are pursuing are completely achieved without any bargaining”.
