A gang has been recently stealing pickup trucks and selling them to Syrian opposition members, media reports said on Wednesday.
A security source told Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) that police stations in the neighborhoods of Ain el-Rummaneh and Shiyyah in Beirut's southern suburbs opened an investigation into the thefts.
According to the source, the gang steals the pick up trucks and sells them to Syrian opposition members, who in turn use them to install rocket launchers in the back of the vehicles.
The international community and analysts have continuously expressed fears that the conflict in Syria, which erupted 20 months ago, may spill over into Lebanon.
