Hand Grenade Hurled in Tripoli's Bab al-Ramel, Blast Heard in Abi Samra

Unidentified assailants on Sunday hurled a hand grenade on al-Khnaq Street in Tripoli's Bab al-Ramel neighborhood, state-run National News Agency reported.

“At once, army and Internal Security Forces troops arrived on the scene, cordoned off the location and launched an investigation,” NNA said.

Earlier on Sunday, the sound of an explosion was heard in al-Zaytoun area in Tripoli's Abi Samra.

Security sources told MTV the explosion was likely caused by a percussion bomb that was tossed “between Wadi Hab and al-Zaytoun.”

Future TV for its part said “the sounds heard in Tripoli resulted from two percussion bombs."

The northern city has recently witnessed several rounds of deadly clashes linked to the conflict in neighboring Syria, especially between the rival neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh.
