Speaker Nabih Berri visited Baabda palace on Thursday and discussed with President Michel Suleiman the latest developments on the Lebanese scene, the National News Agency reported.
"The talks focused on the proposed electoral draft laws,” the NNA detailed.
Suleiman had encouraged Berri on Tuesday to form a constitutional committee to look into the legality of the proposed electoral laws and that after he described the Orthodox Gathering's draft as unconstitutional.
On Sunday, the Christian four-party committee on the electoral law agreed to endorse the electoral system proposed by the so-called Orthodox Gathering, under which each sect would elect its own lawmakers.
Meanwhile Berri had stated that he will back any law on which all Christian parties in Lebanon agree.
The electoral subcommittee convened on Thursday for the third round of discussions on electoral laws but had once again failed to bridge the gap between the March 14 and 8 alliance's over the electoral draft-law.
