Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Wendesday stressed that “a parliamentary legislative session cannot be held amid the absence of a (new) government and the presence of a caretaker cabinet, because the parliament is a legislative and not an executive authority.”
Geagea warned of “the deteriorating economic situation in the country which is not being tackled by the officials.”
“What is the political debate in the country revolving about nowadays? The Lebanese people are being jeopardized by (attempts) to ignite the South’s frontline by turning it, as usual, into an arena with which Lebanon and the Lebanese have nothing to do,” Geagea said.
“And unfortunately the State is absent and incapable of preventing the transformation of Lebanon into an arena. We’re also being jeopardized on our northern front, due to the events in the region’s countries,” he added.
Geagea stressed the need to form a new cabinet, saying “we’re in a dire need for a government that treats these strategic, security, political, economic and social problems.”
