Report: Nasrallah and Aoun Discuss Cabinet Formation

Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Free Patriotic Movement chief Michel Aoun have held talks in an attempt to end the government impasse, al-Liwaa daily reported Tuesday.

According to the newspaper, Nasrallah intentionally did not address local issues during the opening session of an intellectual conference on Iran’s Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei in Beirut on Monday.

It said such a move was aimed at avoiding shedding light on meetings held in Beirut’s southern suburbs, including his talks with Aoun, to contribute to the quick formation of the cabinet.

The meetings have focused on three main issues – regional developments, the dispute between March 8 and 14 over a parliamentary session scheduled to be held on Wednesday, and the urge of syndicates to prevent a further deterioration in economic conditions.

On the level of developments in the region and in Syria in particular, the conferees agreed to confront them through the quick formation of the cabinet after the political vacuum began to reflect negatively on the different sectors, al-Liwaa said.

However, March 8 sources denied to al-Joumhouria daily that Nasrallah and Aoun had met.
