March 8 Suspicious of Miqati: Govt. Formation Delay Like Syrian Siege on Lebanon
The March 8 camp may withdraw its confidence from Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati because of its doubts over his ability to form a new government, reported al-Liwa newspaper on Monday.
It has been disappointed with his efforts and may set a deadline of next Wednesday to withdraw confidence from him regardless if such a step is constitutional or not, said the newspaper.
Damascus’ visitors have also been reported as saying that the delay in the government formation is a part of a “Syrian siege of Lebanon”.
Meanwhile, al-Liwa reported Miqati’s visitors as saying that he is “not convinced with a Free Patriotic Movement minister taking over the Telecommunications Ministry portfolio.”
He had demanded that he instead be handed the portfolio so that it may be under his supervision and that of a state minister affiliated with him, they revealed.
