Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour denied on Wednesday that Lebanon hasn't been adopting the policy of dissociation from the Syrian crisis.
In remarks to Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5), Mansour said: “The Lebanese state rejects the intervention in Syria from any side and has never contradicted the dissociation policy.”
While shying away from mentioning Hizbullah's intervention in Syria's war, the caretaker minister said that Lebanon has in the past two years been witnessing the smuggling of arms and the infiltration of fighters across the border.
“But this doesn't mean that the state approves such things,” Mansour told VDL.
Syrian regime forces, backed by Hizbullah fighters, chased rebels from the strategic town of Qusayr that lies near Lebanon's northeastern border nearly a week ago.
Activists in Aleppo and Homs have claimed that Hizbullah fighters have also joined the military operations in the two cities.
