Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour denied on Thursday that a dispute had erupted between him and President Michel Suleiman over Syria's violations of Lebanese territory.
He said after holding talks with European Union Ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst: “Suleiman did not present a complaint, but a message on the violations.”
He accused the media of attempting to portray his ties with Suleiman as being tense.
“We must be objective in reporting the news,” he stressed.
Asked by reporters about accusations of treason directed against Suleiman over the memorandum on the violations, Mansour said: “One cannot address the president in such a manner.”
“The message he presented included the details of the violations, nothing more nothing less,” stated the caretaker minister.
MP Assem Anso had demanded earlier this week that Suleiman be tried for treason over the memorandum.
Suleiman had handed on Thursday the Arab League a handwritten memorandum to league chief Nabil al-Arabi on Syria's violations against Lebanon with a demand that it halt such activity, reported the National News Agency.
The president had submitted a similar message to United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly earlier this week.
Later on Thursday, Suleiman held talks at the Baabda Palace on the two memorandums with Mansour, reported LBCI television.
