Security Forces Thwart Car Theft after Chase in Chtaura
Security forces thwarted on Sunday an attempted robbery of a car in the Bekaa town of Chtaura, reported the National News Agency.
It said that thieves robbed at a gunpoint a car on the Dahr al-Baydar road.
The crime was reported to the security forces, who informed Chtaura police of the incident.
The police blocked the road and set up a checkpoint when the thieves, driving a BMW and the stolen Hyundai, approached the area.
The assailants failed to stop at the checkpoint leading to a chase between them and the security forces.
A shootout soon ensued, which forced the thieves to abandon their cars and flee the scene.
The criminals managed to escape, but the stolen vehicle was returned to its owner.
