Israeli Troops Deploy, Stage Military Parade by the Border al-Wazzani Region

An Israeli force on Wednesday deployed and staged a military parade near al-Wazzani border region, provoking the national army to increase its security alert.

"Around 22 troops deployed on the outskirts of the eastern Wazzani region near the barbed wire,” the NNA detailed.

It noted: “The troops were protected by two Merkava tanks.”

The same source, denied however, that Israeli soldiers have crossed the Blue Line.

"The soldiers staged a military parade in the region that lasted for three hours as one of the two tanks advanced towards the border village of Ghajar.”

The NNA said the Israeli border activities provoked the Lebanese army to increase its security alert in their positions in al-Wazzani.

"The army forces monitored the Israeli soldiers' movements while the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon troops roamed the streets in the area.”

Meanwhile, Israeli military aircraft flew at a medium altitude over the southern Nabatiyehm province, Marjeyoun, Khyam and Iqlim al-Tuffah, the same source said.

Wednesday's border events come one week after Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah claimed the Labbouneh blast earlier in August in which four Israeli soldiers were wounded.

Nasrallah explained that explosives were already planted in the southern region, as the party had a prior knowledge of the Israeli trespassing.

He vowed to face any further border violations by the Jewish state.

The Lebanese army had said that a group of Israeli soldiers crossed the border into the southern area of Labbouneh near Naqoura and were wounded in an explosion which reports have said was caused by a landmine.

The communique said the Israeli troops reached as far as 400 meters inside Lebanon.
