Opposition Coordinates Stances Ahead of Parliamentary Vote of Confidence Sessions

The opposition has coordinated the stances it would make during parliamentary sessions to discuss the cabinet’s policy statement starting Tuesday, March 14 General-Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soaid said.

Soaid told Voice of Lebanon radio station (93.3) that opposition lawmakers have agreed on the role of each MP during the sessions that are scheduled to take place for three days and are aimed at giving the vote of confidence to Premier Najib Miqati’s government.

March 14 MPs proved that they are free and have a good political performance, he said.

Soaid’s confirmation came after An Nahar daily reported that the opposition lawmakers held closed-door talks on Sunday after a large-scale meeting held by the opposition at Beirut’s Bristol hotel.

According to al-Liwaa daily, the majority of March 14 lawmakers have requested the right to make statements during the parliamentary sessions.

They have agreed to include in their statements the confrontation of Hizbullah’s arms and the alleged “coup” carried out by the March 8 camp against former PM Saad Hariri even if there would be a repetition in the coordinated speeches, al-Liwaa added.
