The Army Command confirmed on Thursday that the military had arrested three men in connection with the kidnapping of a Syrian citizen in eastern Lebanon earlier this month.
The command said in a communique that an army intelligence patrol arrested on Wednesday two Syrians and one Lebanese in the area of Amiq in the West of the Bekaa Valley.
It said the army was questioning the three men for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Ahmed al-Azb in the area of Taanayel on Sept. 9.
LBCI TV said Wednesday that the three men form a kidnap-for-ransom gang.
Media reports had said that al-Azb, 23, was abducted while he was driving his Peugeot on Taanayel's main road.
The kidnappers then called his father to ask for a 1.5 million dollars ransom informing him that the abdcutee was taken to Syria and would be killed if he didn't pay the ransom.
