Judge Demands Death Penalty for Asir, Supporters
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFirst Military Investigation Judge Riyad Abu Ghida demanded on Friday the death penalty for Salafist cleric Ahmed al-Asir and several of his supporters over the Abra clashes with the army near the southern city of Sidon.
Media reports said that Abu Ghida requested the death penalty to al-Asir and 56 others.
Different prison terms were demanded for other suspects, who were referred to the military tribunal.
In June 2013, Asir's supporters opened fire on an army checkpoint, leaving around 18 soldiers and more than 20 gunmen dead.
The gunbattles concentrated in the area of Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque and nearby buildings in Abra.
Asir, a 45-year-old cleric who supports the overwhelmingly Sunni rebels fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad, is no where to be found along with singer turned Salafist Fadel Shaker.
Asir teamed up with Shaker, a onetime prominent singer, when around two years ago he began agitating for Hizbullah to disarm.
Your Honor, I am prepared to provide you with the first rope and pole for Assir. But also, did he invent himself, or was he brought about as a necessity to face off with a recalcitrant so called resistance leader?
he didnt invent himself, qatar invented him. he used to be in prison there and was released, only to arrive here with lots of money and media coverage...
I am not in disagreement with you my brother Mowaten, in this case Qatar had no choice but invent him to face off with that same that so called resistance. If not direct, then by proxy. Either the hen came before the egg, or the egg came fist.
qatar had no choice? seriously phoenix?
qatar had millions of choices, a huge majority of which did not include meddling in our business and sending us terrorists and crazy fanatical preachers to stir sectarian hatred.
Mowaten my brother, we too Lebanese had choices, not to meddle in Syria's affairs. My voice belongs to the millions of Lebanese voices that warned Hezbollah not to enter the fray. Was my voice heard? No. In 2006, my voice was one of the millions that expressed such great hope when we were almost at the very summit of renewed prosperity, was I heard when Sayed Hassan against ALL logic and patriotism decided to kidnap the Israeli soldiers? Why doesn't Sayed Hassan today have the same zeal for the numerous Israeli incursions that are taking place these days. No ya Mowaten, let the truth serve as our guide, Sayed Hassan these days is proficient at explaining things that don't convince, when you open a can of worms, don't expect it to taste Caviar, sorry bro. As of today we will have to be frank with each other.
Mowaten, do you think for one millisecond that I like Assir, or his gay singer? hell no!! I have a profound hatred of Takfiris as much as I hate radicalism in the name of Islam. Did I not as a Christian in the LF sacrifice years of my life fighting them? But today, when moderate Islam proves that it is irreplaceable, why should we antagonize those very people who represent Sunni moderates. The very large majority of Sunnis are moderates and it is also greatly thanks to their moderation and wisdom that Lebanon did not get engulfed into a civil war today. By bypassing the moderates, you invited the radicals. If this was something new, then I will not blame Hezbollah, but the logic is as old as the world itself.
phoenix i know you do not like him, i am not saying that, but the way you say "qatar had no choice" sounds like you're justifying it. if their is no other choice, then it can't be a "wrong" choice. but it is wrong by all standards. when qatar and saudi sponsor extremists it's not HA bypassing anyone. hariri left the country when he lost his daddy's seat, and he invited extremists (which are finally one and the same with him, both originate from saudi, it's a good cop/bad cop scene, but both work as a pair of hands).
and please dont forget that the first to meddle in syria were mustaqbal channeling gulf funds, fighters and weapons into syria (okab's milk and blanket), fighters from akkar who went to take part in the war and arsal serving as a hub.
People like Asir or anyone else who dares attack our beloved LAF deserves nothing less than the death penalty.
As positivneutral mentioned I am also against the death penalty to any human being but Asir and his armed supporters do not qualify as humans.
you? "defy"? hahaha go and play elswhere. maybe with your takfiri or israeli friends
we have better things to do than try to talk sense into a brainwashed dejection.
assir will hang when he is caught, with or without your "blessing" and whether or not you invent stories from a parallel universe to justify his crimes.
no habib, salafis are not into music.
For somebody talking everyday about them, u ignore so much...
and then soldiers made weird breathing sounds when assir's heavily armed men innocently approached the army checkpoint, which prompted them to defend themselves from the oppression against sunnis by killing 18 of them.
If you want to open the door of "armed supporters", please include the very long list of Hezbollah armed supporters. Those that shoot bullets in the air that rain back down all over Beirut whenever Nasrallah speaks on TV. They should be put to sleep like the animals that they are.
Assir deserves the death penalty but don't turn a blind eye to other terrorist groups in town ! First of which has tens of thousands of armed CITIZENS !
@ khamenei's pompomgirls, please feel free NOT to comment as I know that for u I should be hanged for not accepting wilayat al faqih in lebanon...
isn't it funny when one is against hezbollalala then their supporters depict you as anti shia... LOL as if hezbolalala represented all the shia! LOL
very binary narrowminded people
They learned the trick from the israelis.
If u criticize Israel, they call u antisemitic...
as for teh guys posing with yellow ribbons... seriously??? hahaha you taking people for idiots? i can pick up a bunch of losers right now from the street, give them yellow ribbons and tell them to pose, and say those were fighting in the street yesterday.
I admit my ignorance of Lebanese law, but don't u have something called presumption of innocence ?
Oh...I see, sunni with beards or niqab or just not bowing to assad/khamenei are guilty until proven innocent.
Thanks mukhabarat jeich, here another case :

@cedre I don't know what to think. I live in a country where the news is most times close to the truth. In Lebanon however the news seems to be the twisting of truth, opinions and propaganda most of the time. That is why one channel reports one thing in one way and the other in another way. I honestly don't believe anyone and their news anymore.
Our country has gone to sectarian thugs from all sides and the poor peace-loving people of the country are being led to the abyss by all this hatred.
May God help us all
Amin.
I totally agree on this with u, almost everything in lebanon has gone sectarian and deceptive...
He deserves a guilty sentence- but we forget the other terrorists too! What happened to Michel Samaha?? Who gave him the orders to try and blow up his country?? We're those the takfiris as well??? No it was our 'sister' neighbor, the ally of all pro-assays in Lebanon! So please enough with the double standards!!!!
You are not intelligent my friend!!! If you had any sense of intelligence you would realize that I am talking about criminalizing all of these assholes that are ruining your country and mine-- Asir and NAsrallah to name a few. I recommend that you read and interpret messages from others correctly before making inane comments about them.
And I defy you to elevate your argument without having to call people by names. Try, it works.
Actually Assir is a nice guy, contrary to what you stated, and he is not a nutcase. The truth is that Assir was used and abused by people a lot more potent than him, and he also misled a singer who once known to be a good guy, it's called evil. I have said it today, but in a different thread, that it is fatal to bypass the Moderate Sunnis because they form one of the pillars of stability for Lebanon. The moderate Sunnis have long since been calling for Hezbollah to desist from taking the country into complete chaos and anarchy, ASSIR is just a figment of things gone wrong.
are u denying what locals are saying ?
are u denying that the mosque was attacked from Mar Elias days before the events, with the army doing nothing ?
