They were both majors, and both were 28 years old. A group of soldiers were on an unauthorized patrol fearing the theft of equipment or looking for stolen equipment, and they didn't take radios along. The IDF has relaxed rules on opening fire. As a commenter on RT's story said, if you shoot Palestinians more easily, that's perfectly fine. Good marksmanship. Which makes me think, maybe it wasn't an accident. A story from WWII described a guy on guard duty shooting a sergeant he hated, claiming the sergeant had approached his guard post without properly identifying himself. Armies want sentries to shoot first, ask questions later.
