Judicial Council dismisses electoral appeals of Jad Ghosn, Haidar Issa

The Judicial Council on Thursday dismissed the electoral appeals filed by Jad Ghosn in Northern Metn and Haidar Issa in Akkar.

The rulings mean that MP Ahmed Rustom of Akkar and MPs Razi al-Hajj and Hagop Pakradounian of Northern Metn will keep their parliamentary seats.

The Council had on November 24 annulled the parliamentary membership of Rami Fanj and Firas al-Salloum of Tripoli, declaring the win of Faisal Karami and Haidar Nasser.

The Council had dismissed six other appeals earlier this year.

Can't really feel bad for Jad. He is a likeable person and bring a touch of class and intellectualism to talk shows. Unfortunately, he is naïve, can't see the tree from the forest, and easily played by dangerous people with criminal minds in his soft imbalanced interviews. He pretends to know economy but fail miserably at seeing most important financial foundation. Corruption always existed in Lebanon, as in most fast developing countries. Stabilizing currency for 20 years is a dream for any developing nation on which strong growth is achieved followed by reforms. Lebanon was on this path. Two factors from same source crippled our economy: political risk due to Hizbollah armed occupation that scared investors and western firms, made long time projects impossible, and evaporated investment in modernizing economy and infrastructure; and high interest rates due to hizb occupation that led to Lebanon bankruptcy and banking system collapse. Ignoring these factors make Jad a bad economist.
