Syrians Rally in Beirut to Hail China U.N. Veto

The Syrian community in Lebanon on Sunday staged a demonstration outside the Chinese embassy in the Beirut district of Bir Hassan to hail Beijing's veto at the Security Council that blocked U.N. action against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Carrying Syrian flags and portraits of Assad, the demonstrators shouted slogans in support of the Syrian leader and denounced a number of Western and Arab countries critical of the Assad government.

“Through this firm stance, China and Russia stressed their commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations pertaining to respecting the sovereignty of the member states,” Jamal al-Mohsen, said in a speech outside the embassy on behalf of the Syrian expats.

At the end of the rally, pro-Assad demonstrators handed the Chinese ambassador a letter of gratitude.

On February 4 China and Russia vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution on Syria, describing it as "unbalanced."

Syrian activist groups say more than 6,000 have died since anti-regime protests erupted last March.

Damascus does not recognize the scale of the protest movement that erupted in mid-March, insisting it is fighting "terrorist groups" seeking to sow chaos as part of a foreign-hatched conspiracy.

Iran is sending 15000 Soldiers to Syria to support suppressing the Syrian citizens. The truth comes out as it is OK to bring up non-arab soldiers, since all arabs are zionists and mossad only in the eyes of Bashar/Iran.

So I take it all those who are commenting support Al Qaeda?? And support the Gulf countries and thank them for making Tripoli home to the largest population of Sulfi extremists in the world? I dont want Lebanon or Syria to turn into another Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya... And as far as Im concerned Hizbollah has been in Lebanon since the 80s and Lebanon has not yet turned into Iran. Even Hizbollah isnt as dangerous as Al Qaeda. This all makes sense now, Rafik Hariri's assassination, the oil found in the Mediterranean, the privatization of the oil in Iraq and Libya by the West. For those talking about the Zionists, the Zionists are the least of ur worries. The 15,000 soldiers do not compare to the work Qatar and Saudi Arabia are doing the Free Syrian Army, have 20,000 fighters, and are armed and funded by Qatar, According to the report, so far a total number of 2,500 troops have been recruited.

The hard core is made up of 1,000 members of the Islamic Fighting Group in Libya, which fought Gaddafi, and 1,000 operatives of the Ansar al-Sunna, the Iraqi Islamists that reportedly carried out 15 coordinated bomb attacks in Baghdad last Thursday, Qatar has airlifted the 2,500 troops from Libya and Iraq to the southern Turkish town of Antakya in the border province of Hatay.
The top commander of the anti-Syria mission headquartered in Antakya is Abdel Hakim Belhaj, whose militia seized control of the Libyan capital Tripoli in August and who is also a member of Al Qaeda and a personal friend of Bin Laden. So its better to be killed by ur fellow Arabs lol...

do these security agents pay TVA or any other form of taxation to the Lebanese economy? do they invest any of their earnings in the Lebanese economy? If not then kick them out and let the Lebanese work. But amazing how they are able to freely demonstrate in the Land of the Cedars, while their own country bans demonstrations. Further, it is amazing how they can demonstrate in Lebanon without being attacked while those supporting the free Syrian people are attacked if they demonstrate in Lebanon. Lebanon is in dire need of a real charismatic leader who will talk the talk and walk the walk and put Lebanon first!

The Lebanese Army is busy deploying in the North harrassing Sunnis in Wadi Khaled and protecting Syria's back...same role they played when Hizbullah invaded West Beirut...we can't wait till the Baathist regime fall...the Lebanese Army will be purified from officers sympathetic to Baath!!

The filthy Zionists are unemployed on Sunday to sell Chicklets at the busy intersections of downtown Beirut streets so their Iranian/Syrian masters paid them overtime to block the roads near the Chinese Embassy.

@lebanese_bebe: Every religion has extremists, Likud vs Kadima, Hizbollah vs shiite, Al Qaida vs sunni.
As far as I am concerned just as Moughnieh architected the Marines bombing in Beirut in the 80s, he did it again to Harriri and the rest of the Lebanese politicians, and Do not you even tell me the nonsense that Israel bombed its own embassy in India as Iran claims. They got caught in Thailand already and shame on your leader for supporting them.
