An Israeli airstrike targeted Tuesday a small truck deep into Lebanese territory, in the country's east.

The Israeli airstrike on the Faara Valley near the Lebanese eastern city of Hermel came hours after Hezbollah targeted the Meron air base in northern Israel.

A strike over the weekend at al-Osseira in Baalbek, about 100 kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border, and another one near the village of Suwairi in the Bekaa Valley had ended a period of relative calm that lasted around 10 days, since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

Hezbollah fired Sunday more than 60 rockets at two Israeli military positions in the occupied Golan Heights in response to the Israeli strikes. The group said the attack Tuesday on Meron was also in response to the strike on Baalbek and al-Bekaa.

The group carried out several other attacks on northern Israel Tuesday, "in support of Gaza".
