Berri says Lebanon committed to 1701, decries 'over 30,000' Israeli violations
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday marked Lebanon’s Liberation and Resistance Day by calling for “preserving and defending” the country during the current period.
“The entire region, including Lebanon, is witnessing a genocidal war” by Israel, Berri said in a “message to the Lebanese.”
“We renew our commitment and adherence to U.N. resolution 1701 and all its terms and stipulations,” Berri added, noting that Israel has committed “over 30,000 violations” of the aforementioned resolution.
The Speaker added that Lebanon is “keen on its right to defend its land with all the available means in the face of the Israeli hostility,” calling for the liberation of “the remaining occupied territory in the Kfarshouba Hills, the Shebaa Farms, the northern part of the Ghajar village, and the contested border points with occupied Palestine all the way to the B1 point in Ras al-Naqoura.”
“Lebanon is open to positive cooperation with any international effort aimed at reining in Israel’s hostility and its ambitions towards Lebanon and its resources,” Berri went on to say.
The country is “unwilling to give up any of its sovereign rights,” he underlined.
He also vowed that Lebanon “will resist any attempt from any side to impose any form of naturalization, whether for the displaced Syrians or the Palestinian refugees.”
Honestly Mr Berri: Does killing UN peacekeepers belong to being "committed to UN resolution 1701"? and what about constantly harassing and intimidating the same peacekeepers who have the absolute right to go whereever they want to go in the border areas. What about non-government weapons and armed elements south of Litani, is that according to the mentioned resolution? In addition to being stupid, you are a criminal...
Resolution 1701, "no non-governmental armed forces shall be south of the Litani river."
So lets do a calculation, every hour that the Government of the Republic of Lebanon allows Hizballah forces to be be established south of the river on the Israel border since 2006 is (365 days x 24 hours x 17 years) 148,920 violations, a lot more than your over 30,000.
