After US talks, Egypt urges Gaza ceasefire, warns of regional war
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Egypt on Tuesday as part of his latest Middle East tour to push forward talks aiming to end the 10-month Gaza war.
Blinken held talks with Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in the coastal city of El Alamein following a visit to Israel, where he met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Al-Sisi called for a Gaza ceasefire and warned of a regional war, after he met with Blinken.
"The time has come to end the ongoing war, and to resort to wisdom, and to uphold the language of peace and diplomacy," he said in a statement, adding all parties must be wary of the "danger of the conflict expanding regionally".
